PROJECTS
FV Antarctic Chieftain
Location: Port Louis, Mauritius
Client: Australian Long Line
Duration: 3 weeks
Completion: December 2018
The Project
NZ Coating Services was engaged to provide project management of the painting of the FV Antarctic Chieftain during its dry docking at the Taylor Smith dock yard in Port Louis, Mauritius.
The Scope of work included:
Full factory repaint to meet Australian standards. This was carried out meticulously with a lot of attention being paid to ensuring thorough surface preparation was carried out and full coverage of the coatings system was achieved.
Full hull repaint and reinstating of the anti-fouling system.
With this work being carried out in a foreign country there were many challenges that had to be overcome, the biggest being the language barrier.
These challenges were overcome by the onsite project manager producing written time frames and realistic daily goals for the local painting contractor to achieve, these were easily translated. The local painting contractor worked hard to achieve them as well as meeting the high standards of our project manager who was thoroughly inspecting all their work to meet our clients needs.
The customer was extremely happy with the services provided by NZCS and has since used our services on their other vessels in Port Nelson and the Lyttleton dry dock.
